Music is such a wonderful gift from God.
I had the privilege of growing up in a very musical home. From a very young age, my family was always singing around the piano together. My parents had us all taking music lessons by age five. We constantly had CDs playing and songs in our head.
Music is a powerful thing. Most of us can remember lyrics and melodies years after we heard them even just a few times.
What does this have to do with children?
If you play beautiful, gospel-saturated songs daily for your own kids, just imagine how impactful that will be for them long-term. They will remember those godly lyrics for the rest of their lives.
Just think of all the lyrics from Scripture they could learn through song.
In our kid’s ministry, we recognize the blessing of great music. We are very selective with the songs that use in our ministries. We look for songs that have solid lyrics, songs that are singable (not too high or low), and songs that have beautiful melodies (so children enjoy what they are singing).
Our musical philosophy is simple, but we are sensitive to choosing songs that please God. 1 Corinthians reminds us of this principle, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (10:31).
