What is Summer Bible Club?

What is Summer Bible Club?

True to its name, it is a Bible club that runs throughout the summer here at First Baptist Church. It begins the first week of June and runs through the last week of August. It is for boys and girls, ages 1st through 6th grade.

Historically speaking, a Bible Club for kids is typically hosted outside of a church setting and includes activities such as games, crafts, and (most importantly) a Bible lesson tailored for children.

For our Bible Club, it is hosted at the church and includes a similar schedule to what I wrote about above. We do songs, Bible review games, running games, crafts, and a Bible lesson.

In previous years, Summer Bible Club has been centered around the same theme of VBS and would build up to the VBS program at the end of the summer. With VBS now being scheduled earlier in the summer, it has its own separate theme.

We’re excited about doing a study on the books of the Bible this summer as our theme. We hope and pray that as the kids are exposed to how the Bible is divided into groups of books and how those groupings relate to God’s sovereignty and character in revealing Himself to us through His word, they will grow in their appreciation of our great God.

So, although this is not a standard “Bible club”, it is a program that we’re excited about and the opportunity to teach our kids the Bible. It is just as important as any other program we do in our children’s ministry and we’re looking forward to a tremendous summer of ministry!

Drew Williquette is the children’s pastor at First Baptist Church of Glen Este, Ohio. He has served in this capacity since June of 2019. He and his wife Jenna love serving the parents and children at First Baptist and would love to do what they can to help your child grow in the Lord.
